Expocentre: new project will attract close to one thousand exhibitors!

The Russia Today international information agency hosted a press conference devoted to the Russian Textile Week project to be held on 23-26 February 2016 at Expocentre Fairgrounds.

Deputy General Director of Expocentre ZAO Mikhail Tolkachev; President of the Souzlegprom Russian Union of Entrepreneurs of Textile and Light Industry, Chairman of the Committee on the Textile and Light Industry of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Andrey Razbrodin; and General Director of Messe Frankfurt Rus Eugen Alles participated in the press conference.

Mikhail Tolkachev announced that the Russian Textile Week hosted by Expocentre Fairgrounds would include four trade shows: Russia’s leading textile show co-organized by Expocentre and Messe Dussedorf Moscow – the Inlegmash International Exhibition for Textile Manufacturing and Processing; the CJF – Child and Junior Fashion. Spring International Exhibition for Child and Junior Fashion, Maternity Wear; the Techtextil Russia International Exhibition for Technical Textiles, Nonwovens and Protective Clothing; a new Intertkan International Exhibition for Fabrics and Textile Materials; and the Week’s main business related event – the Legpromforum 2016 International Forum of Textile Industry.

Mr Tolkachev noted that the coming Russian Textile Week had already generated a lot of interest in the professional community. He provided some figures which spoke about demand for this event in the textile industry. “We expect to accommodate about one thousand exhibitors and about 20 thousand professional visitors. The total exhibition area will be close to 10 thousand square meters,” said Mr Tolkachev.

The Week is organized by Expocentre ZAO and the Souzlegprom Russian Union of Entrepreneurs of Textile and Light Industry.

According to Souzlegprom President Andrey Razbrodin the idea to hold a large textile event has been promoted by the professional community for over several years. Today it is brought to life in the Russian Textile Week, which is bound to become the industry’s largest annual event. It features several trade shows together with a three day program of associated events, which includes not only the traditional Legpromforum devoted to general problems of the industry but also sales and buying sessions, master classes, workshops and round tables.

Mr Razbrodin talked about the government’s support for the Week, “Until today we didn’t have a single exhibition and business platform to represent the whole industry. Now the tides have changed. The Russian Textile Week allows us to arrange several trade shows and associated events at the most convenient time. The idea gained the full backing of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade. The Ministry included the Week in its master plan and will take part in its events. We also carry out talks with state officials about partially financing participation of Russian exhibitors.”

General Director of Messe Frankfurt Rus Eugen Alles welcomed the initiative to hold the Russian Textile Week. He believes this project keeps up with the current trends in the exhibition industry.

“The leading trade shows in Europe, America and Asia show that there is a trend to amalgamate events. It creates a synergy effect which allows achieving maximum results at minimum costs. For example Techtextil in Frankfurt is co-located with the Texprocess International Trade Fair for Processing Textile and Flexible Materials. This synergy has a profound effect on the whole industry,” said Mr Alles.

He also stressed that the co-location of large trade shows would give a powerful impetus to development of the research and manufacturing basis of Russia’s textile industry.
