The 14th Practical Business Forum of the CJF – Child and Junior Fashion 2016. Spring was held as part of the event program of the Russian Textile Week.
Research Director of Ipsos Comcon Yulia Bychenko told about the problems facing the children fashion market at present. First of all, it is birthrate stagnation and, as a consequence, a reduced demand for children’s goods. Moreover, the current economic environment also affects the industry. According to the statistics given at the Forum, 84% of the Russians are worried about growing crisis and price increase. As a result, many buyers cut their expenses changing points of purchase, choosing brands from other price segments and reducing purchasing frequency and amount. The recession is particularly noticeable in the sector of children’s toys and dressy clothes.
Nevertheless, children’s goods refer to family expenditure of high priority. Retail e-commerce was called a key driver of the children’s clothing market, which allows buying branded goods at lower prices.
CEO of Trendsquire Ksenia Lery told about the latest trends in design as a business tool for the consumer goods industry. The main criteria for choosing children’s clothes are comfort in wear; the child should like the clothes; quality and fabric of clothes, and a good design. In the children fashion industry, design plays an important role and, owing to design, to a large extent, the price is justified. Combination of creativity and business approach enables the market leaders to make marketable products promoting sales growth and buyers’ loyalty.
